Artist’s Statement
I am interested in a sense of timelessness. I find great significance in objects and places that
remain relevant to a culture over many years. Such things build meaning over time, and often the meaning and function of a particular
object or space changes as time moves on; allowing it to transcend cultural trends. My work attempts to transform
familiar objects into something unfamiliar; engaging our memories by revealing something abstract, restrained, and elegant from
that which we have known. Boat hulls, weaponry, tools, plants, and the human figure are some of the subjects referenced in my
work. The structure of my work's evolution has been a sequence of series; one series morphs into the next, creating
a body of work that is both interconnected and constantly evolving.
